Join our free Couch to 5K Program! Your family needs to get in shape!

Family_Running_crop-200x300Rochester, NH – With the summer months fast approaching, many of us are looking for an opportunity to achieve a healthier lifestyle. In the past you may have tried working out at the gym, attending group fitness classes or participating in recreational sports. While these are all great avenues for physical activity, finding time for a consistent exercise routine can be a challenge.

Running is one of the most easily accessible fitness activities available for anyone looking to improve their health. Running requires minimal equipment (sneakers and maybe a heart rate monitor); it can be done at anytime or anywhere and running can benefit almost every part of your body. In addition to the more obvious physical benefits, running can also boost your immune system, increase your levels of good cholesterol and can help prevent disease. Running has also been shown to relieve stress and anxiety and boost self-confidence.

If you have never run before, or if it has been a while, you might be intimidated about where to start. With warmer weather and longer days ahead, this is a great time of year to begin an outdoor running program. Over the next few months, Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics is working with Lilac City Pediatrics and Z107 FM to offer a free Couch to 5K program. The 10-week program will include a comprehensive running training plan, fitness and nutrition tips, videos and more, all leading up to the Howie’s Field of Dreams 5K in Rochester, NH.

Run and train alongside Z107 afternoon host “Jadd” as he participates in the program and prepares for the 5K in July. Learn to run, improve your overall health and support a great cause by participating in the free Couch to 5K program and registering to run in the Howie’s Field of Dreams 5K on July 20th. For more information or to sign up for the Couch to 5K program today, visit www.runrochester.org.

Phone issues

We had a little problem with the phone this morning, which is all fixed. Call back if you tried and couldn’t get through!

We are open!

Despite the 6+ inches or so, we are open and ready to help! The snow should be tapering off this morning, so we don;t anticipate any problems today…

We are open…Where is the snow?

Today is one of those days where the view outside the window is better than the forecast. We are here and working, and we will watch the weather as the day goes on. So far so good!

Tomorrow’s Snowstorm…(another one!!!)

snow-map-226 The weather looks a little iffy starting tomorrow morning, but it will be an all day event, and could change to a little rain (please?!)…so we are still waiting to see what happens.

If you are trying to decide about bringing in your child for an illness, try to do it this afternoon (Tuesday) just in case it gets bad tomorrow.

Exactly where would we put another foot? We have too much already…

A New LCP Website!

The previous Lilac City Pediatrics Website was functional, but dull. There was the same information there, and it really needed work. I have been teaching myself the finer points of HTML and WordPress, and here is the first result. I am trying to fully integrate email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so watch out! I will keep you posted as I figure it out…
